Beyond Solar: Smarter Storage with SOFAR

SOFAR supporting Australian installers through technical education, product knowledge sharing and local engagement.
Australia's residential energy market is entering a new stage, where solar generation is increasingly being complemented by smarter energy management solutions. As households look for greater control over electricity costs and energy use, battery storage and emerging technologies such as Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are creating new opportunities across the residential energy sector.
For installers, this shift represents more than a change in technology. Customers are increasingly looking beyond solar panels alone and asking how they can store energy, improve self-consumption and make their home energy systems work more efficiently. As a result, knowledge of battery integration, smart energy solutions and future-ready systems is becoming increasingly important.
Virtual Power Plants are playing a growing role in this transition. By connecting distributed residential batteries through intelligent platforms, VPPs can help improve energy flexibility and support a more responsive electricity system. In New South Wales, VPP participation is becoming an increasingly important part of the residential battery conversation.
Supporting this evolution, SOFAR residential battery systems are compatible with CovaU’s Virtual Power Plant platform in NSW. For eligible customers participating through CovaU Energy, this provides an additional pathway to access VPP opportunities and unlock greater value from residential energy storage.
Alongside smart energy capabilities, SOFAR continues to support installers through product innovation and local engagement. During the Smart Energy Council Installer Roadshows across Perth, Townsville, Sydney and Melbourne, SOFAR partnered with Sunsavers Group to connect with installers through technical presentations, product demonstrations and practical discussions.
During the roadshows, SOFAR introduced its upcoming PowerIn solution, designed for residential and C&I PV and battery energy storage applications. Featuring a modular design, flexible battery expansion and plug-and-play installation, PowerIn aims to provide installers with more adaptable solutions as energy storage requirements continue to evolve.
SOFAR will continue its engagement with Australia's installer community at upcoming industry events, including Smart Energy Queensland Conference & Exhibition on 8 September, where the company will provide CPD training and product demonstrations at Event 1.
As Australia moves towards a smarter energy future, certified products, technical knowledge and local support will become increasingly important. Through VPP-compatible solutions, installer education and ongoing market engagement, SOFAR remains committed to supporting the continued growth of Australia's residential energy storage market.
